The learner will:

  • Identify author and illustrator of a story
  • Identify the roles of an author and illustrator in telling the story

Supportive Practices

The adult will:

  • Select appropriate literary text
  • Explicitly use the terms “author” and “illustrator” along with their definitions
  • Credit students as “author” and “illustrator” of their own works (drawings and dictations)
  • Provide opportunities to discuss the roles of the author and illustrator in telling the story
